Shakespeare and his band of merry players are back again to create some theatre magic with you from home!

Adapted from Shakespeare's The Tempest, Emit Theatre's production of Isle Full of Noises allows families to enjoy this classic story retold with a contemporary audience in mind right from the comfort of your own home.

Our story begins when the magician Prospero creates an enchanted storm to bring a ship filled with his enemies to the island where he and his daughter have been stranded. Along with his fairy helper Ariel and other island spirits, Prospero creates a wild adventure for everyone on the island. As his plans come to pass, he must not only confront his past but also reckon with his own actions. He especially must confront his treatment of the half-human, half-fish Caliban to whom the island actually belongs to.

Audience members will play along and help drive the action of this stormy adventure of forgiveness and family across three 20-minute episodes. A pre-show activity will take place during the first five minutes of each episode. Crafted for ages 5 to 10.

Please RSVP; attendees will receive access details the day before the performance.

All performances feature live CART captioning. Audio descriptions of characters are included in the performance dialogue. For more information on accessibility, see our Accessibility page.

Tutorials

Like all of our performances, A Midsummer Night's Dream is highly interactive! We will spend some time at the beginning of the performance reviewing a few Zoom functions that will allow you to interact with the performance.

However, if you’d like to go over those functions ahead of time, we have prepared written and video tutorials below.

Zoom Settings (for maximum Shakespeare fun!)

1. When you register for the performance, you will receive a link the day before the performance. Click the link to open Zoom.

2. In the upper right hand corner of the screen, select "Gallery View." (This icon may be in a different spot on your screen if you are on a tablet or phone.)

3. In the lower left hand corner, find the video icon. Select the ^ button and click "Video Settings." In the Settings box, select "Hide non-video participants."

4. Familiarize yourself with the "Chat" feature at the bottom of your screen. You will use it during the show!

Breakout Rooms

1. At some point during the performance, you will receive an invitation to join a Breakout Room. Click "Join Breakout Room" when you see the invitation.

2. You will then move to a Breakout Room, where you will join an activity.

3. You can always leave the Breakout Room to return to the Main Room by clicking "Leave Room" and then "Leave Breakout Room."

4. At the end of the activity, you will automatically be moved back to the Main Room.

Snap Camera: Just for fun, you can add filters to your video during a performance!

1. Download Snap Camera at https://snapcamera.snapchat.com/. Please note your computer’s software and Zoom must be fully up to date in order for Snap Camera to run correctly in Zoom.

2. While you're in Zoom, open Snap Camera.

3. In Zoom, click the up carrot ^ next to the video icon and select "Snap Camera."

4. On Snap Camera, click the filter you'd like to use. This is a great way to add costumes or fun effects to your video during a performance!

An additional video tutorial for Snap Camera is available here.
